Sleep apnea and the trucking industry

Truck drivers spend numerous hours behind the wheel at a time, and many of those hours fall during the middle of the night. It is important for these drivers to stay alert on the road in order to avoid the causation of accidents.

United States transportation authorities put a rule into place regarding sleep apnea in the trucking industry. A screening system will be set up in order to determine if truck drivers suffer from this sleep condition.

Any trucker who has a body mass index of more than 35 will be required to be tested for the sleeping condition. The number 35 was reached so that the screening process would only affect individuals who have a much higher chance of developing sleep apnea.

It is important to be insured on the roadways in the trucking industry. Freight factoring can be done in a number of ways. To learn more about freight factoring, please contact TBS Factoring LLC by calling 800-207-7661 today.
