Mack Trucks Inc. said Friday it will boost production at it Macungie, Pa. truck plant.
According to a company press release, Mack Trucks will hire approximately 300 people to support the production increase. Mack officials said all the additional personnel will be new hires, due to recent recalls of employees laid off during the truck industrys downturn. The production boost is largely attributed to increased demand for the Mack Pinnacle model highway trucks.
Customers are extremely pleased with the Pinnacle model and our MP series engines, in terms of both performance and fuel economy, Mack Senior Vice President Kevin Flaherty said. With recently announced enhancements to our vehicle aerodynamics and engine offerings, we expect the enthusiasm to continue.
The company plans to have the new hires in place by August. The production increase will include the addition of a second shift.
