Heavy-duty truck sales increased by 41 percent in April, a new report says.
According to a new report issued by Wards Automotive, Class 8 heavy-duty truck sales totaled 12, 731 trucks in the United States in April, up from 8, 627 trucks the previous April, a 41.1 percent increase. April marks the 16th consecutive year-over-year improvement for Class 8 sales in the United States.
April sales were down form a very strong figure of 13,010 in March, which was the highest monthly total since April 2007. Year-to-date Class 8 truck sales have reached 44,131 in the United States, an increase of 35.9 percent from 2010 and a 55 percent gain from 2009. Sales this year, however, are still only about half of those posted through April during the industry peak in 2006.
