The U.S. transportation secretary and the Mexican secretary of communications and transportation  decided to form a working group to discuss current transportation issues regarding cross-border travel. They are now working together to discuss the next steps to ensure that trade across the border is safe, efficient, reliable and sustainable.

Mexican trucks are limited to an area within 25 miles across the American side of the border. However, a pilot program was started during the Bush administration that allows certain Mexican carriers unrestricted access to all American roads.
