The Department of Transportation proposed a rule Wednesday that drivers of interstate commercial trucks and buses not be allowed to text while driving. The public may comment on the proposed rule within the next 30 days, the Department said.
The Department enacted an interim ban on distracted driving in January, but this proposed rule would make it permanent. Drivers may still operate navigation devices and other in-cab duties, the Department said.
